"March"ing into summer....

It is a common practice to look back over a tough year and reflect on what was going at this same time last year.  March of 2011is best described as the calm before the storm.  We were excited to be new parents, but everything was relatively developmentally "young".  I didn't have that "mom" feeling yet, and Trent was just getting his head around the fact that a baby was in the making.  Besides our fledgling marriage, George was our only responsibility.  Work was uncomplicated.  It was a simpler time.
March 2011

This unseasonably warm March (I think 14 days in the 70s!) was anything but simple.  As Trent made his way back to teaching after his FMLA leave in January & February, we found ourselves adjusting (again) to both working, and the inevitable at-home "scoreboard" of who did what. After "discussing" (comparing) overall work for the day, most days include some form of one or both of us pointing the finger at the other for household chores, cooking, feedings, and puppy care in a "not-it" type of mentality.  Somehow everything got done every day - it wasn't pretty, but it was completed.

Some highs for the month:
Gabriel LOVES jumping in his horsey jumper we have dubbed "Jaques".  We think he might walk before he crawls since his legs are so strong, and he can't seem to get it going on his tummy.

Weekly physical, speech and occupational therapy have really been paying off.  Gabriel can now sit up on his own!  He is making stides every week, and I am happy to say he now eats 1-2 Tablespoons of baby food at a time! Inadvertently, his most recent Physical therapy session was exceptionally successful due to the addition of......his cousin Levi.  As it turns out, babies relate better to each other than they do to adults, so their progress is quicker if other kids are around - and since Levi and Luci will be here in Indiana until the end of summer, I see a LOT of progress in the future for all of them!

Gabriel's laugh.is.priceless. LOVE!
