In the beginning...

In the last year of our lives, Trent and I have experienced the highest of highs and the lowest of lows.  We married on the most beautiful fall day last October, in what was arguably the most perfect culmination of circumstance, planning and love (minus Alicia having kidney stones!)  Up to that point, we had both suffered heartache, but we truly believe God sent us to each other at just the right point in our lives so that we realize what we have in the other person and appreciate it so much more for what we had been through.

Because I am not a "phone-talker" like Trent, I decided to keep a blog for those that are far away or don't get the full "scoop" from us directly.  It will also help me to remember our journey in twenty years when this is all just a blip on the radar of life.  The name of our blog "Nothing comes easy to a Spangler" is not a cry for sympathy, its sort of a joke.  When I was first dating Trent, he was looking for a job and he would say, "Nothing comes easy to a Spangler" and same goes for women, apartments, exercise, etc etc etc...He used this saying for EVERYTHING.  On the other hand, although I have always worked hard at everything in my life, things USED to come pretty easy for me. But now that I'm a Spangler..... :)

The rest of our story (so far) will unfold in future posts.  I can only say that some of what has transpired will bring anguish to even the most callous of hearts, but our story continues to be one of hope, faith, love and perserverance.  God is our center, and we have become so much stronger and focused because of what He has brought us through.  Jeremiah 29:11 - "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans for a hope and a future."
